My nephew's soon to be wife, sent a message on our family chat making a joke about the first computer being an apple.

This reminded me of the time I purchased my first computer, which was an apple, and all the jokes surrounding it. Mom was at the goodwill and found an infant's toy apple that made musical sounds when shook. She came home from work and asked if I still wanted an apple and after I confirmed, she got a silly grin and presented me with the toy.

When my computer was finally delivered by UPS, no one was home so it was delivered to my uncle's house down the road. When I got home from school he called to ask me if I had ordered some apples because there were a few boxes of apples delivered to his house with my name on the box. He said they were on the porch to stay cold. I'm not 100% sure he knew what was in the box or if he was joking.

Monitors were very expensive, especially on a high schooler's budget, and the quality wasn't all that great; so an old TV worked just as well.
