I just watched a YouTube video about the whirlypop popcorn maker. I suppose it is an okay gadget, but I prefer a multi-purpose pot over the stove to a single purpose pan. However, it did bring to mind a certain popper of corn: Wil.
On the left is Wil and his popcorn maker. To the right is my sister, eating popcorn. Wil made popcorn at nearly every camping club meeting that we attended. He used a seasoned semi-solid oil (peanut oil?) that was yellow-orange which made the popcorn a bright yellow. It was delicious.
There were at least 30-40 people that were served from that kettle of popcorn and my sister and I would run bags of popcorn over to everyone who wanted one. Once everyone had what they wanted, we would then start going campsite-to-campsite to deliver popcorn to anybody who wanted some.
Ahh, the good old days when it was easy to trust a stranger that offered a free bag of popcorn. I haven't been camping in years and don't know if that type of trust is still present at a campground.
