When I grocery shop, it is frequently shopping with a purpose: buy what's on the list. But I needed groceries that my normal grocer, Aldi, does not carry so I headed off to Schnuck's where I very rarely shop. Side note: Schnuck's just bought most, if not all, of the Shop-n-Save chain in St. Louis. Here in Edwardsville there was a Shop-n-Save less than 1/8 of a mile from Schnuck's; so, we now have two Shnuck's stores nearly side by side.
While I was wandering around looking for the items on my list, I came across breakfast sausage. I'm not a big breakfast person and generally eat Irish oatmeal if I fix breakfast otherwise I just eat an apple or banana. But I bought it anyway just to have something different.
That's a long journey to get to the meat of the matter: I made biscuits and sausage--anybody that knows me would guess the biscuits were made from scratch and they'd be right. While I was eating, I had to wonder how something as wonderfully delicious as a biscuit came to be synonymous with those horrid things in a tube. Yes, a tube is startlingly easy to open, but there's just nothing like homemade biscuits. Hardee's makes good biscuits, if my memory still matches reality. Now that breakfast is a fading memory, it is time bundle up and go for a walk while the sun is still out. It has been depressingly cloudy for nearly a week.
