Dewey's Bakery

I've never been to Dewey's Bakery but a co-worker said they make the best Moravian Sugar Cake. I've also never had any but this morning I woke up with a desire to have some Moravian sugar cake. Not sure why--perhaps I was homesick for Winston Salem. Searching for a recipe, I found one that claimed to be authentic--from the bakery even. It called for 4 ounces of yeast with about 2 cups of flour. That is an entire jar of bread yeast! Needless to say, but I didn't use that one. I finally found one that seemed reasonable; so, I gave it a try. 5 hours later and here it is.

It is quite a challenge to make something you've never had before or even tasted. Even though it was good, I have no idea if it tasted anything like Moravian Sugar Cake.

I have since searched for images of this cake and mine looks nothing like it. However, yeast bread covered with brown sugar, butter and cinnamon is still good.
