Pecan Pie

Nothing is as delightfully exquisite as that first bite: The crunch of the pecans surrounded by the sweet, dark syrupy filling; carried on a light and flaky bed. The second bite is only nearly as good because, well, it is not the first. By the third, the flavor and crunch are becoming familiar rather than exquisite. By the last bite, licking syrup from my fingers, I am sad to see it end.
